September 2018 Empties

Hey guys! Catching up on my empties posts, so here is everything I used up in September.

Bonapiel Beauty & Youth Serum - It smelled a bit too strong for my liking, but made my skin feel nice.Would not repurchase.

The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner - You all know my love for this toner, and I only have a couple left. I will not be repurchasing, unfortunately. This is just too plain considering the price.

2 Cane + Austin Miracle Pad - This was super intense, but it was effective in making my skin soft and glowy. Maybe would repurchase.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion - This was very light, yet really hydrating. I tend to like Aveeno products, but likely won't repurchase.

Bath & Body Works Black Cherry Merlot Hand Soap - Love this scent, but you all know I'm using up my stash and moving along to something a bit better quality. Will not repurchase.

Maple Holistics Tea Tree Shampoo - I surprisingly liked this! It made my scalp feel nice, but I did need extra conditioner as it dried my hair out a bit. Will not repurchase.

Dove Men Clean Comfort Antiperspirant - I actually used this since my husband didn't like spray deodorants. It smelled a bit overpowering but did its job. Will not repurchase.

Young Living Super B - I LOVE this b complex vitamin! I've actually used up more than this but forget to save the bottles. I'm slowly moving towards using all Young Living products in general, and have switched over all supplements completely. Will definitely repurchase!

Triple Paste - For my daughter's tushy. This was great stuff. It's got no scent, and takes away rashes quickly. I've found a Young Living product I like better, so I will not repurchase this.

Crest Pro Health Advanced toothpaste - I did not like this at all. The scrubbing bits in it didn't help my teeth feel cleaner and the taste didn't last either. Will not repurchase.

Products used up: 11
Total for the year: 124

Next post will be October's empties, and I'm so, so close to hitting my goal! I'm tempted to up my goal a bit to 165 products used, but if I don't hit that goal, it's not a huge deal. It feels good regardless getting rid of all these products and making room for better quality products :)

October 2017 Empties

I know I recently posted my empties for August and September, and I was thinking of waiting another month, but October was a great month with using up products! I don't think I've used up this many products in one month for quite a while. Since I have a good amount of products to share, I'll be combining November and December empties, even if it's a long post. So, without further ado, let's see what I used up!

Starting off with some skincare, I used up the AzureNaturals Ultimate Vitamin C Toner. I had a few skincare products sent to me from this brand, and they're not awful, but they're not great either. I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase anything myself.

I've been working my way through the InstaNatural Youth Express Vitamin C Moisturizer for so long, I was getting so tired of using it! It's a decent moisturizer, but after using it all up, I feel like it just sits on my skin and doesn't sink in.

I tend to shy away from Lancome skincare, mainly because it's so expensive, but their products are typically heavily fragranced. However, the Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate was lovely! There was little scent to it, and it really made my skin feel so soft and look brighter. Would I buy a full size? Eh, I don't know. I feel like there are better serums at a lower price, but this one is very nice regardless.

Ole Henriksen makes some AMAZING skincare! I had a deluxe sample of their Sheer Transformation moisturizer, and I fell in love after the first application. I seriously think this may be in my top favorite moisturizers, that's now much I love it! I'm pretty certain I have a full size in my skincare stash, but I want to use a few more deluxe samples first before I open it.

For haircare, I used up the Tresemme Platinum Strength Shampoo. The conditioner was in my previous empties, as my husband had used it a few times. I typically go through shampoos faster than conditioners, but I'm happy to have both used up now. They've been in my shower for way too long. There was nothing too special about this shampoo. It got the job done and is pretty inexpensive as well.

I had purchased the Infusium 23 Color Defender Conditioner years ago after coloring my hair and wanting something different. I no longer color my hair, but wanted to still use this up. It made my hair super soft, but has a heavy fragrance. I got it from Big Lots for just a few dollars, so I have no clue if they even make this product anymore.

Two body products I used up were The Body Shop Almond Shower Gel and the Philosophy Pomegranate Bubbly Exfoliating Shower Gel. You all know I'm obsessed with anything from The Body Shop, and the Almond Shower Gel was no exception. I also love Philosophy shower products, but this scrub was weird. The granules were too harsh and I wasn't a fan of the smell.

I've used up more Bath & Body Works products! The Warm Vanilla Sugar Deep Cleansing Hand Soap, Vermont Sugar Maple Foaming Hand Soap, and the Vanilla Buttercream Hand Cream were all great! I love sweet scented hand products, and even my husband enjoyed the Vermont Maple Sugar soap. I've just realized how expensive all B&BW products are, even with a sale, so I'm slowly going through all products I have of theirs, and will likely not be buying anything else.

Lastly, I have a couple random products, and one of Olivia's. I don't understand why it takes me so long to go through mouthwash, but the Listerine Total Care Zero took me insanely long to go through. Possibly a year or more! Even though this has no alcohol in it, I still feel like it burned my mouth, but maybe I'm just sensitive.

Call me gross, but I don't wear deodorant everyday. I'm home with my daughter, so I only ever wear it if we go out for errands, or have her physical/occupational therapists and family over. I really enjoyed the Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant. It smells really nice, and the spray nozzle is pretty great as well. I think I got this in a previous Influenster box, but I may purchase myself in the future.

The last product that was used up was the Johnson's Baby Head-to-Toe Wash. This was of course what I used for Olivia during baths, and it's just ok. We got so many different products for her and still have tons to use up still before we need to buy anything ourselves. I will likely switch to something else once we run out of everything else we have

Number of products used up: 14
Total used up for the year: 70

I'm honestly so proud of myself right now! I've been struggling using up products ever since my daughter was born, but I finally feel like I'm making progress. I had made a new goal of using up 75 products total for the year, and I can't believe I'm 5 away! I won't make a new goal now, as there is only 2 more months of the year, but I hope to make some good progress. I hope to use up a lot more or deluxe samples I have, as well as foil packet samples. I also need to really make an effort with using up makeup, since I have way too much for any normal person to go through!

October, November & December 2016 Empties

*Post contains affiliate links*
With my daughter being born early, I had no time to write up empties posts every month, let alone any posts really. I did still keep all the products I used up, and I'll have another empties post for the first 3 months of this year so far coming in the next couple weeks.

I'll start off with some bath and hair products. The Pantene Volume Shampoo is one that both my husband and I used. I'm a big fan of Pantene shampoos and conditioners, and this one was no exception. I was sent the Derma E Scalp Relief Shampoo a while ago, and I did really enjoy it. It had a tingly effect on my scalp and made any dandruff I had go away.

Two deluxe sized body washes I finished up were the Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Stress Relief, and the other was the Dove Deep Moisture. I LOVED the scent of the B&BW body wash and am considering buying a full size once I use up my stash. The Dove I didn't care for. It really wasn't moisturizing to me and left my skin feeling rough.

We used up two toothpastes the last 3 months of the year. A Colgate Total Whitening, and a Colgate Enamel Health. The Enamel Health was mine and I really liked how it made my teeth feel. I would occasionally use the Total Whitening, but it made my teeth too sensitive.

While I was pregnant, I took the Thorne Basic Prenatal vitamin. I liked these because they contain Folate, not Folic Acid. Folic Acid is the synthetic form of Folate, and I have a disorder where my body cannot process the synthetic version. These are more expensive than other vitamins, but they were worth it to me.

Lastly for health products, is a mini Degree deodorant. Since I was in and out of the hospital for the better part of 5 months with my daughter, I would take travel sizes since they were easier to manage. I liked this enough, but probably wouldn't buy again.

For anyone that doesn't know, NICU's are very warm and very dry. My lips, hands and whole body took a beating, and I went through all these lip balms the last three months of 2016. I love The Body Shop lip butters, and this one was the honeymania scent. Families who have had babies in the NICU tend to give gifts here and there throughout the year, and in a gift bag I had gotten, there was the Blistex Fruit Smoothies lip balm in the Berry Explosion scent. I kid you not when I say I went through this tube in just two weeks! Last lip balm is the Serious balm in the Snickerdoodle scent. I love these balms and was sent a few, I wanna say last Spring. I still have the other two to use up and I'm sure I will get to them soon.

Last up is some skincare! I'm fairly certain I used the BioRepublic Green Tea Detox sheet mask just before having Olivia, because I had zero time or energy to do any kind of face mask after she was born. I finally used up the First Aid Beauty Daily Face Cream that I had been working on for probably a year. I love this face cream because it's fragrance free and simple to use. The White Tea Facial Cleanser from Korres was nice, but slightly drying. I liked the scent, but this is better for me to use in the warmer months.

I've used up more hand creams since, but the one I had finished up before the end of the year was the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream in the fragrance free version. I adore this hand cream as it's nice and thick, but is gel-like and sinks right in. I washed my hands probably 20 times a day, at least, while tending to my daughter, and needed something that would help heal the dryness and cracked skin I had.

Total number of products used up: 15
Total for the year: 128

128 products used up in 2016 is not too bad! Considering having my daughter early, I'm pretty proud I did as well as I did. My lofty goal was to use up 250 products, and I initially wanted that to be my goal for this year as well, but I decided to be nice to myself and lower it to 150. Olivia has only been home for 2 weeks now, and we're still figuring out a good routine, so it may take a bit to get into a groove of using products efficiently. My husband and I would also like to move, maybe in the Summer, and I'd like to use up as much as I can before that. Anyway, like I said above, I will have an empties post for the first 3 months of this year up very soon, and will go back to monthly empties after that.

Did you keep track of how many products you used up last year?

August 2016 Empties

*Post contains affiliate links*
Hey guys! It's time to share another month's empty products, and August wasn't that good. The past few months haven't really been that good with finishing up products, but I managed to use up a few things this time!

I had gotten the Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash in an old Walmart box. I always have liked Dove deodorant, but wasn't a huge fan of their body washes. This one was no exception, sadly. I did like how thick and creamy it was, but it made my skin feel more dry.

The Curel Itch Defense, on the other hand, was great! I had gotten this in an Influenster voxbox, and I really liked how soft this made my skin feel. I have been having much itchier skin lately, and this worked like a charm.

I've always been a fan of anything Aveeno, so their Daily Moisturizing Lotion Sheer Hydration was nothing super new to me. I've been trying to go through a bunch of deluxe samples lately, so it feels good to have these three finished!

I finally finished up the last of the Citron Cedarwood candle from Bath & Body Works. My husband was a fan of this scent, but it was a bit much for me. I did like using it when I was cleaning to help make our house smell fresher.

This little baby size of the Tarte Smooth Operator Finishing Powder took me forever to go through! I used this to set my face and for baking underneath my eyes, and it just seemed like the never ending powder. If I purchased this in the full size, it would probably take me years and years of daily use to go through. I highly recommend this though! It makes my skin look and feel so soft and smooth.

The MyChelle Love Your Lips lip balm in the scent Black Currant Pomegranate is another product that took ages to use up. It's just such a massive tube, so I started using it on my cuticles and rough spots I had just to use it up faster! It was nice though, especially under very drying lip products.

The very last product used up is the Colgate Sparkling White Toothpaste. I used this at night, but my husband was the one using it the most. I thought this toothpaste was kinda weird. It was more of a gel formula, and it foamed up a ton so it made my mouth feel super dry. My husband likes the Colgate brand, so we bought a different kind of toothpaste for him.

Number of products used up: 7
Total for the year: 103

I finally used up 100 products! I'm a bit disappointed in myself honestly. I've mentioned before that my goal was to use up 250 products this year, but I don't see myself doing that unless I go ham with how much I use of everything, and that's just a waste to me. I definitely see September being better, as I already have 3 products used up and it's only the 5th! This pregnancy has seriously made me feel so exhausted all the time, even though I'm almost to the third trimester, so I've been slacking on doing my makeup and taking care of my skin most days. I need to get my butt into gear before baby Olivia makes her grand entrance, because I know I'll be slacking again once she's here!

May 2016 Empties

Hey everyone! As you know, I've been a bit MIA here on the blog. I mentioned in my May favorites that I'll be able to talk more about what's going on in my life, so stay tuned. I'll be updating in the next couple weeks or so! Anyway, May wasn't great in the empties department either. Like I've said already, I haven't been interested in makeup much, and taking care of my skin has taken a bit of a backseat as well. I did manage to use up more than I thought, so lets see what I have!

I'll start off with some skincare. I finally used up the Skyn Iceland Glacial Face Wash that took me over two months to use up. This cleanser foams up like crazy even though it doesn't feel like it would. You only need a little bit to get the job done, and I used this in the morning. It helped to wake up my skin and prep it for the day.

Next up is a konjac sponge. I don't know the brand, but it's your typical white konjac sponge, and I really liked it while it lasted. It started getting moldy in one spot, so I decided to toss it, even though I didn't use it for very long.

I used up two lip balms. Yes, two! That never happens to me, but these tubes were pretty tiny. The first one is the Aquafina Flavor Splash in the Wild Berry scent. I loved this at night because it left my lips feeling nice and soft until morning. The second one is by Olive Natural Beauty and it's their Moisturizing Lip Balm in the Refreshing Rosemary scent. I didn't like this too much honestly. The hydration was fine, but I couldn't get past the smell and it kept making me nauseous. Luckily, I used this up within about a week and a half, so I didn't suffer too much.

Next up is just a couple mini body washes. I absolutely loved the Dove Go Fresh Nutrium Moisture Body Wash in the scent Mandarin & Tiare Flower. Holy crap was this lovely! It smelled citrus-y and a bit flowery, but not over the top flowery. You all know I can't stand flowery smells. I'm very tempted to go and buy this in a full size, it's that good.

The sceond mini body wash is the Bliss Lemon + Sage Soapy Sap Fresh Foaming Shower Gel. Absolutely loved the scent, but it didn't lather very well, so I used it up pretty quickly.

Last few products are some random bath products. I finished two deodorants, one being the Dove ClearTone Deodorant and the second being the Secret Clinical Strength Clear Gel in the scent Completely Clean. The Dove was nice, and the concept is that it's supposed to help with taking care of the darkness that some people get on their underarms. I didn't notice a difference in that area, but it kept me smelling nice and not sweaty. I did love the Secret Clinical Strength, and I was sent this in a little package a while ago. It's just a travel size that didn't have much use in it, but it's amazing and doesn't get white marks all over your clothes.

Of course we can't forget about toothpaste! This is the Colgate Baking Soda & Peroxide Whitening Toothpaste in the Frosty Mint Stripe flavor. It was nice, did what I expect from a toothpaste, so I have no complaints. My husband helped use this up so it went pretty fast.

Number of products used up: 9
Total for the year: 75

Yeah, I didn't do too well in May. I was hoping by now I'd have used up closer to 100 products. I'm sure you know by now, but this is the year of decluttering and using up what I have. I made the goal of using up 250 products, and that will include samples and mini sizes of products. I can't even begin to count how many samples alone I have. It's quite ridiculous actually. I have a long road ahead of me, and please bear with me until I can finally talk about what's going on with life!

What did you use up last month?

Spring 2015 Walmart Beauty Box

Hey guys! Today I'm going to be sharing the Walmart beauty box for Spring 2015. I have a rant on this one, as I did with the Winter box I received, but I'll save that until the end. Here is everything I got.

I made the products look all nice in the box for this picture. I probably shouldn't have because I'm pretty disappointed.

-Lady Gaga Fame Perfume: Don't like perfume, this is getting passed on to a co-worker

-Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes: I'll definitely use these at some point to remove swatches or makeup, but there are only 7 wipes. Probably more good for travel, but I don't have plans to go anywhere anytime soon

-Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair & Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner: I've never heard of these before and again, these can be good for travel. They're so small and are basically like free samples they send out

-Dove GoFresh Body Wash in the scent mandarin & tiare flower: This smells nice, but again, this is like a free sample

These are some foil packet samples and coupons for L'Oreal, Schwarzkopf, Nivea and Maybelline. I'm curious to try the Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion, but I am nervous it will make my shower all slippery.

I was thoroughly unimpressed with this box. Granted, it's only $5 and you get one per season, but I've had so many issues, that I just cancelled. Now for my rant. I was charged twice for this box and had to call customer service, which is a pain normally because either they never answer, or they're just rude and don't know what they're doing. I was told I'd receive a phone call or email back about being double charged, and I waited and waited for weeks until one day I noticed my credit card was refunded. I waited for probably close to 3 weeks to notice the refund and was pretty pissed that no one could send me a quick email letting me know I'd get a refund. Also, when answering the phone, I don't want to hear, "customer service, how can I help you?" in a nasty tone from a total douche bag guy who probably has no interest in a beauty box or helping people with legitimate problems. There was no professionalism at all with him and I was really upset. I work in retail where customer service has to be our top priority. While there may be some customers who I don't think deserve good customer service, I still have to help them, with a smile, and be professional. The dude I talked to was just rude and not very helpful. I am definitely glad I got my money back from being double charged, and once I received this box in the mail, I made sure to cancel right away. I probably shouldn't be so upset over 5 bucks, but that's my hard earned 5 bucks. I say skip this crappy box, spend $5 more and subscribe to Ipsy. Way better products, full size products at times, and awesome customer service. I have never had an issue that wasn't resolved immediately with them. *End rant*

Are you subscribed to the Walmart Beauty Box? If so, have you had similar issues to mine?

Winter 2014 Walmart Beauty Box

Hi guys! Today I'll be showing you what I got in the Winter edition of the Walmart Beauty Box. I have to say right off the bat, this was such a pain in the butt to receive and there was alot of confusion when people signed up. Lets see what I got in this box, then I'll explain the issues I had personally.

Everything came packaged in this white box that says Walmart Beauty. Inside of the lid it says, "Help define your beauty" and the Walmart website where you can find beauty products. It's a cute little box but the products were mediocre at best.

The first product I got is the Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes. I enjoy Burt's Bees products, their lip balms are awesome. I have not tried their face wipes, and this is the only product that I'm sort of interested in trying out. I always look for good makeup remover wipes.

Then there are the foil packets. I can't stand getting foil packet samples in something I'm paying money for. Anyways, the first packet is the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. I have tried John Frieda hair care before and from what I remember, I did like it. The second one of from L'Oreal and it's their Color Vibrancy Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment. I've never tried L'Oreal hair care before, so I will try this and see how I like it. At most, I'll probably only get about two uses from each sample.

I also got a Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash. This is a 1.8 fluid ounce bottle, so I think I could get about 5 or so uses out of this. I may even give it to my husband because he's been complaining about dry skin from his normal bar soaps. Since I love him and all, I'll be a good wife and share ;)

Next up we have the Covergirl Colorlicious Lip Gloss in the shade 640 Juicy Fruit. This is the only full size product and it retails for $7.99 depending on where you get it. This alone makes up for the price you pay for the box, and it is a pretty color, so I'll get some use out of it.

The last product is the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. This tiny sample is annoying because I've gotten these for free as like a gift with purchase. I'll still probably use this as I'm drier than dry because of this cold weather, but it's frustrating it's so tiny!

I also did get a card with some of the Flower Beauty scents on it, but it's not worth showing honestly. They smell awful too.

Overall, this really is a meh box. It is a quarterly box you get every season and you only pay $5, which is said to be a shipping charge. Now for the rant. I had signed up back in October when I heard there was a Fall box. My card was charged right away, so I figured I'd be receiving that one. However, after about a month and still no box, I was getting worried. I couldn't log into my account to see what was going on, so I sent many emails and only got one response saying the Fall box was sold out and I'd get the Winter box. I started to think that I'd be charged again once the Winter box was sent out, but thankfully I wasn't. I did get mad though because alot of other people were having the same issue I was. I hate to say this, but I made a big fuss over everything on Twitter because I was upset. Yes, I know it's only $5, but still, it's my $5 that I thought was getting taken and I wouldn't be getting anything. All in all, I was able to get back into my account, and the box was sent to me. I decided to stay signed up for now and get the Spring box, but if something like that happens again, I'm cancelling in a heartbeat. If you want more information, here is a link on how the Walmart Beauty Box works. You don't have to sign up for it from the link, it's just information where you can look it over and see if it's right for you.

September 2013 Empties!

Hey everyone! I went through a ton of products this past month so I'm not going to ramble and get into what I've used up! There's a decent mix of products, so I'm really happy to have used up so much.

Starting off with skincare, I finally used up a Paula's Choice 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid Lotion. This bottle lasted me well over a year, for sure. My husband and I got our own place back in July of 2012 and I was already about halfway through the bottle. I used this at night after I toned my face and I just love how this helps my skin. I have incredibly large pores that get clogged easily, and this stuff works miracles in helping them stay clear. I'm currently using the gel version of this and like it a bit better for my oily skin.

The next product I used up is the Philosophy Hope in a Jar Oil-Free Moisturizer for normal to oily skin. I liked this, but didn't love it. To me, it's a basic moisturizer that felt hydrating on the skin, but didn't make me feel like a greaseball. I didn't notice it doing anything special for my skin, but it didn't have any negative effects either. I probably won't repurchase this in the future.

My last skincare product I used up is the Freeman Facial Brightening Paper Mask in Rose. I used this the Friday before my wedding, and I have to say, this is the most awkward mask I have ever tried! Since it's a sheet mask, you take it out and place it on your face, but there are holes for your eyes and nose. The eye holes were way too small and not placed far enough apart and it burns like a mother if you get the liquid too close to your eyeballs. I didn't even notice any brightening in my skin. This was in the September Ipsy bag, and while it's awesome we got these face masks, they're so not worth it in my opinion.

I used up a Suave Keratin Infusion Smoothing Shampoo. I really liked this shampoo. It smells amazing and makes my hair feel so soft and clean. It's really inexpensive if you buy it at Walmart. I probably paid only $3 or $4 for this bottle. I'm currently trying to finish up the conditioner that goes with this. I always go through shampoos way before conditioner. I probably will repurchase this sometime in the future.

Next up is the Dove Refresh+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo. This dry shampoo is complete crap! Seriously, this did absolutely nothing for my hair. It just made it feel greasier and dirtier and I just hated it. The smell is atrocious as well. Like an old lady's perfume. Nasty, don't waste your money! I only used this up because I hate to waste product. It was painful having to use this and I'm glad it's gone.

Next up we have some vitamins. I used up a Nature Made Multi Complete. I honestly don't know how effective taking vitamins is, but I didn't notice a difference in anything when taking these. I still take them pretty much everyday because I'm used to it.

I also used up a Natural Factors B12 chewable vitamin. My mom actually got these for me to help with energy. I honestly didn't notice any difference in my energy levels at all. I'm not sure if you have to take these every single day to be effective, but I only took one when I really felt tired and needed more energy.

Well I finally used up a Dove Ultimate Go Fresh Deodorant in Cucumber & Green Tea scent. I say finally because it seems like it takes forever for me to use up a deodorant. I promise, I use it everyday! To me, deodorant is nothing special and I just buy what's on sale. I do like how this smells though, so that was a plus.

I used up a Neutrogena New Hands Restorative Hand Treatment. I didn't like this stuff at all. It doesn't feel moisturizing and it burns really bad whenever I put it on. Even though this stuff lasts forever, I won't repurchase.

I used up a Colgate Total Pro-Shield Plus Sensitivity Toothpaste. I'm not too picky with toothpaste, but I do usually have to buy the kind for sensitive teeth because it feels better to me.

I'm obsessed with the Bath & Body Works hand sanitizers and the one I used up is in the scent Snow Frosted Apple. This one smells so amazing and whenever I had a co-worker use it, they loved it too. I think this is a Christmas scent, so I hope they bring it back this year.

The next product is a Soho Beauty Sponge. I'm throwing this away because it's terrible and now that I have the Beauty Blender, nothing can compare to it. This one is such bad quality, it falls apart when you wet it. Good riddance to this!

I used up a little sample of the Lancome Cils Booster XL Super Enhancing Mascara Base. I really liked this stuff a long time ago because it made my lashes look alot longer. Now, I don't really care for mascara primers but I do have another one of these to use up plus an E.L.F. one, so once those are used up, I probably won't repurchase any.

The final product here is the bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara. I absolutely hated this, so technically this isn't an empty because I'm throwing it away. I only used it about 4 times and it clumped on my lashes every single time really bad and it's a super wet formula. I don't know why this is getting such rave reviews honestly.

If you made it to the end, then you're awesome! I know this is a long post, but I told you guys I went through a ton of stuff! Hope you guys don't mind :)

What did you use up in September?

How to Treat Your Body Skin: Body Washes

The skin on your body is typically very different from your facial skin. It's not as thin, most times it's drier, and you need different products to help take care of the rest of your body. There are many types of body washes to choose from. There are super creamy ones if you have really dry skin, shower gels if you don't have really dry skin, and then there's the old bar soap (which I think is so bad for your skin, but my fiance loves it).

I love the super creamy body washes in the Fall, Winter, and very beginning of Spring as my skin gets pretty dry at that time. Now I haven't really found any higher end body washes that I like so I stick to my drugstore brands. I am totally obsessed with Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash. OMG, this stuff seriously means business when it comes to dry skin. It also has a light, clean scent that's not overpowering. That's especially good if you have a sensitivity to fragrances. I use this body wash with a washcloth and lightly scrub it over my skin for some light exfoliation. When I get out of the shower my skin is so soft and smooth and this is the only body wash that helps with those nasty red bumps on the back of my arms. Another nice one is Olay Body Wash plus Creme Ribbons. This one basically has a ribbon of lotion in it that makes your skin soft and it says it visibly improves your skin in 5 days.

Now with shower gels, I prefer higher end ones that aren't super expensive, but they're definitely not as inexpensive as drugstore brands. As with any person who loves the Philosophy brand, I am completely in love with their shower gels. When you put them on a washcloth, they lather up nicely, and they smell sooooooo good! Man, every time I've smelled a certain scent, it smells exactly like the name says. They are also a shampoo and bubble bath as well, which is pretty cool. some of my favorite scents are Cinnamon Buns, Coconut Frosting, Mimosa, and Senorita Margarita. They also have their seasonal scents that come out during Halloween and Christmas and other holidays and such. I love all the scents I've tried though. To me, Philosophy can't go wrong with their shower gels. Other shower gels I love are from The Body Shop. Their Satsuma Shower Gel is amazing. It smells just like a freshly peeled orange and all their gels are soap free and lather up so nicely. Other good scents are their Sweet Lemon and the Earth Lovers Cucumber & Mint shower gels. They also have body creams, which don't foam up a lot but they're very moisturizing and amazing as well, especially the Coconut and Shea shower creams. The coconut smells too flipping amazing.

Okay, so like I said in the beginning, I can't stand bar soaps. Every single one I've tried has dried out my skin terribly and I just don't like them. My fiance, however, is a big fan of them and pretty much refuses to use body wash, unless he ran out of bar soap and it's the absolute last thing he can use. He loves the Dove Unscented bar soap for Sensitive Skin. I'll admit, this makes his skin pretty darn soft, and the bugger never uses body lotion or cream and stays soft no matter what (lucky duck!). Also, since it's unscented, it doesn't have a harsh fragrance to it if you have a sensitivity to smells. I sometimes do, but only if a body wash or shower gel has such a fragrant smell to where it makes my nose itch, then I sneeze a lot. I know to stay away from any kind of product like that because it never does me any good, especially if I'm sneezing like a maniac.

Alright, I know there are so many different kinds of body washes and shower gels out there and honestly, try a lot if you can to see what you'll like most. Try a bunch of different scents too and see if they irritate you or if they smell amazing enough to make you re-buy it. I'll admit this, my closet outside the bathroom is stuffed with shower products from my body washes and shower gels, to all my scrubs and lotions. I probably won't have to buy anything for a year, that's how much I have. But hey, I'm a beauty junkie so I probably will anyways ;)
