July 2018 Empties

I know I'm super behind on the blog, and I realized I forgot to share the products I used up in July. Oops! There aren't many, so this will be a quick post. August so far is going so much better with using stuff up, and I'll try to get that post up asap.

This is sort of a mish-mash of products. I finally used up another can of Batiste Dry Shampoo in the Sassy & Daring Wild scent. I didn't mind this scent too much, but it was slightly overpowering. I honestly don't use as much dry shampoo as I used to because I don't leave the house much, so I don't mind if my hair's a bit dirty.

I used to love the Bath & Body Works hand soaps, but now I just want them all gone! I did enjoy the Boardwalk Vanilla Cone scent, and I have only 3 unopened bottles left to use, then I'll be making my own hand soap with my Young Living essential oils.

I really liked the DDF Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew. It felt awesome on my skin and left it feeling soft and smooth. I probably won't repurchase as I'm making the slow switch to Young Living skincare products.

I've always hated EOS lip balms, and still do, ha! This one was alright, but I don't remember the scent. I know it had coconut mik in it, so maybe it was a strawberry coconut. Either way, I'll never buy EOS lip balms ever again.

My last of the Philosophy hand creams are finished! I LOVE the Fresh Cream scent, and am tempted to buy more, but likely won't.

Lastly, is my daughter Olivia's products. As I've been learning more about body products, especially for babies, I'm just wanting to get rid of everything I have for her. I did use up the Head-to-Toe Wash, but am throwing out about half a bottle full of the Baby Lotion. I also used up a sample size of the Dr. Smith's Diaper Rash Ointment. I don't think it did much honestly, and have found a much better and safer option through Young Living for her.

Products used up: 8
Total for the year: 102

I'm finally over the 100 mark! I have a feeling I may actually be able to surpass my goal of using up 150 products, and that makes me feel so amazing! I've been on this journey of decluttering and switching over to a more healthy wellness lifestyle, hence all the mentions of Young Living. Let me know if you would like to learn more about Young Living! You can email me at skinstuffbykaty@yahoo.com

May 2018 Empties

May was kind of a rough month in using up products, but I still have a few to share with you all!

I really only used up some skincare and body care in May. I used up The Body Shop Body Butter Duo in Vanilla, and I thought it was pretty nice! One side was thicker for extra dry skin, and the other side was for basic hydration. I have another one or two as backups.

I ended up decluttering the O'Keefe's Working Hands because it's all dried out and unusable. I liked it when I was able to use it, but it did leave a bit of a film on my hands that kinda bothered me.

I have one sheet mask from BioRepublic in Aloe Rescue. This felt nice and cooling on my skin when I was dealing with some dryness and irritation. I'm a big fan of sheet masks recently, but need to find more time to use them more consistently.

The second to last of my Philosophy hand cream tubes has been used up. The Homemade Honey Buns scent was to die for, and I wish I had another one. My last tube should be used up by the end of June, so you should see that in June's empties post!

The Azure Naturals Ultimate Vitamin C Moisturizer was just alright. I liked it at first, but towards the end I realized it just wasn't for my skin. It didn't sink in very well and just sat on top, making my face feel more greasy.

The last product I used up is an EOS lip balm in the Strawberry scent. These take forever for me to use up, and in all honesty, I don't really like them all that much. They're not the most hydrating and I'm just glad it's gone.

Products used up: 6
Total for the year: 74

I definitely didn't use up as much as I wanted to, but I'm glad I used up at least a few products. So far, June is going much better and I'm more motivated in using up everything I have.

Sephora & Ulta Haul!

Hey guys! So in January I put myself on a little spending ban, but it was mainly just a cut back on the spending really. I didn't buy nearly as much as I normally would in a month, which I'm very happy with. I did end up buying a little something from Sephora and Ulta last month and I wanted to show you my little haul!

Around the first or second week of January, Sephora had double points on skincare purchases. Originally I had way more items in my shopping cart, but I behaved and only purchased the Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Gel-to-Oil Cleanser. This was a brand spanking new product when I bought it, so I took a chance with it. I then saw Marlena, aka MakeupGeek, on YouTube rave about this in I think her Hot New Products video for January. I still have yet to try this as I haven't really worn alot of makeup lately, but I can't wait to put it to the test.

I had so many points saved up, and when I saw the Boscia Black Magic kit as a 500 point perk, I snagged it up right away. I have tried some Boscia products in the past, but never tried any of their "black" products. I've already tried the Luminizing Black Mask in this kit, and holy crap is that stuff amazing! It's one of those peel-off masks, which I normally don't care for, but this stuff is incredible! I couldn't believe all the dead skin and nastiness that was on the mask after I peeled it off. I'm tempted to try out some of their other peel-off masks now.

Also, when you spent $25 there was a coupon code to get a skincare sampler bag that contains 12 different samples from brands like Fresh, Bliss, Glamglow, Origins, Philosophy and more. I kinda have an obsession with samples, so I'm pretty excited to dig into these. There is a sample of the Glamglow Supermud Mask, which I can't wait to try. Reading about it reminds me of the Origins Charcoal Mask that I love so dearly, so I definitely want to see if this compares to that.

Now for the little bit I got from Ulta. They sent out 20% coupons that were good on everything except for just a few items, but I was happy that the coupon worked on most of the high-end products. I've been really wanting to get my hands on the Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette since it came out. I didn't really need another palette, so I waited and waited, and once I got that 20% off coupon in the mail, I figured it was time to treat myself. This is at Sephora as well, but I wanted to use the coupon I had while it was good! I haven't tried it yet, but the colors are gorgeous and I keep reading good reviews on it. I do want to review it myself once I try it out a few times.

I also decided to try out the EOS lip balm in the Coconut Milk scent. I honestly don't really like the regular EOS lip balms all that much, but Emily Noel on YouTube really likes this particular one, so I figured I'd give it a try. I also got an EOS hand cream for my mother-in-law because she was with me and said she needed one for her purse. I think she got the Cucumber scent, but I don't know what her opinion of it is yet.

That's everything I got! I'm definitely trying to make an effort in not spending as much money in a month that I normally do on beauty products, and so far I'm doing good! I still have a Sephora giftcard that my husband got me for Christmas though...

Is there anything you've bought recently that you're enjoying?

Also, remember my Borghese giveaway and my blog sale! I just updated it with new products :)

September 2014 Empties

Hi guys! It's time for some empties and this will probably be a long one because I used up a decent amount of products. Here we go!

First up is a can of Batiste Dry Shampoo, and this is the one with a hint of color for light and blonde hair. I didn't mind the color of this, which was a light yellow. It rubbed into my hair fine and left no strange color. I love my Batiste and will always repurchase, but probably not this one.

The next product I used up is the Garnier Fructis Hydra Recharge Fortifying Shampoo. I didn't use up this whole bottle myself, I had the help of my husband. He's not picky with shampoo, but I did like this. It definitely made my hair feel really clean and it smelled really nice too. I always like shampoos and conditioners from this brand so I'll always repurchase at some time or other.

Next up is a conditioner I've been tying to finish for probably a year or so, and it's the Pantene Sheer Volume Complete Therapy Conditioner. I don't know why this took so long to finish, but I didn't need alot at all to make my hair feel hydrated. This definitely made my hair feel so nice and less tangled. Worth it for how long it lasted, but I was so over it when it was gone!

I also used up the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner that also took me ages to use up. This conditioner is really good stuff. It's very thin and liquid-y though so at first I thought it wasn't going to work well. Boy was I wrong! This left my hair feeling so soft and made it smell so darn good! I would repurchase once I use up my stash.

Oh look, mascaras! I gotta admit, alot of these were just dried up and I couldn't use them. The two Buxom Lash mascaras I've had for I don't even now how long, so they gotta go. The Benefit Badgal Lash I used once, but it seemed off to me. I used it before and liked it, but this tube just wasn't the same. Funny story about the Fresh Supernova mascara. The first time I went to use it, I got one eye done and loved how it turned out. Then the wand proceeded to fly out of my hand onto the carpet. Needless to say, it had hair and dust all over it so I had to toss it and find something else to use. I absolutely hated theBalm's What's Your Type? mascara in "The Body Builder". It did nothing for me at all. I was so in love with the Sephora Atomic Volume mascara and I got a good 3 weeks of use out of it before it started to dry out and not work as well.

The next product Is actually one I'm throwing away because the color is hideous and it's the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Ultra Lipstick in the color Brick. It's a horrible brick red color that makes me look so sick. This came in a gift with purchase so I'm not worried about throwing it out.

Then we have a Jouer lip gloss and the color is called Birchbox Pink. This obviously came in a Birchbox, but I haven't been subscribed to them in about 2 years, plus this smelled funny, so out it goes!

The bareMinerals Prime Time Eyelid Primer was pretty nice, but my shadows creased on me most days I used it. It wasn't terrible, but enough to be annoying. I did finish all of this and got a little over a month's worth of use out of this little sample.

I'm just throwing away the J.Cat Beauty Sparkling Cream Palette. This glittery creamy mess is just not good and no one should ever use it.

Onto some random bits. First up is a foaming hand soap from Bath & Body Works in the scent Coconut Cove. I absolutely loved this scent, obviously because it's coconut. I have about 20 different scents of these soaps because I always stock up during sales.

Next up is my favorite contact solution, Renu Fresh. I know I've said before, but this is the only brand that doesn't burn my eyes when I put my contacts in, so I can't really buy anything else. This stuff isn't cheap either, so I'm learning to wear my glasses more just to conserve a bit.

I was sad using up this Crest Sensi-Relief Toothpaste, because it was so good! This has to be one of the best toothpastes that have helped my sensitive teeth and gums. This isn't cheap either and I did buy it at Walmart when I had a $1 off coupon to use. Normally I think it's a little over $4, which to me is high. I always feel like I shouldn't pay that much for something like toothpaste. I will repurchase eventually if I don't find something better, or cheaper.

I used up the Body Shop's Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner, which I've been a fan of for years. I love this stuff in the Summer especially, because it's awesome for oily skin. It keeps my skin clear and fresh and I feel it helps with my breakouts.

I used up my first EOS lip balm and I think the scent is either strawberry or raspberry. It never says on the packaging what scent it is, so I really am guessing. In my truly honest opinion, I think this stuff sucks. I didn't find it moisturizing at all. If anything my lips were drier making me use it constantly. I do have a few more of these lip balms in my stash, but I don't know if I want to just throw them out or not.

Next up is another product from The Body Shop, the Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel. I loved this so much in the Summer because it felt so cooling and nice on hot days. It really has no scent either which for me is nice since I tend to have sensitive eyes.

I was really sad when I used up this little sample of the Jouer Lip Enhancer Conditioning Lip Treatment. I think I got this in a Birchbox as well, but this seemed good to use. I absolutely loved what this did to my lips. It made them plump and feel so hydrated and lovely. I'm tempted to buy a full size of this honestly but I have plenty of lip balms/treatments to use up first.

The last product I used up is the Almay Oil-Free Makeup Remover Towelettes. I'm on the fence with these. I liked them but I didn't love them. They did seem to remove my makeup well, but they left a bit of a film on my skin and stung my eyes occasionally, which was odd.

Phew! That was a doozy! If you made it til the end, tell me what you all used up last month! :)

HAUL! Bath & Body Works, Ulta & Target

Hey guys! So unfortunately I have another haul for you today. I know, I know, I'm so bad with shopping. My new years resolution is to not buy anything beauty related for three months. I say new years resolution because I know the rest of this year I won't be good, so January 1st is a good start. Anyways, lets get into the haul!

First I went to Bath & Body Works last week because their 3 wick candles were 2 for $20. They seem to have that sale fairly often because I bought two others back in October for the same deal. Anyways, I know I've said how much I loved my Hot Buttered Rum candle so of course I had to buy another one. I was smelling all the other ones they have and the Pineapple Mango jumped out at me. I didn't notice this scent when I was there last time so I'm not sure if it's a holiday scent or if I'm just blind. This candle smells so good! It reminds me of a nice fruity summer drink which is kinda odd considering it's getting to be winter. Here's the description of the scent on the bottom of the jar: "Luscious tree-ripening mango and sweet tropical pineapple are complimented by crisp lotus and a hint of warm vanilla." I don't smell any hint of vanilla to be honest, but I absolutely love the pineapple smell so this will be a nice candle to burn when it's freezing to remind me of summer!

Then just a couple days ago I went to Ulta because I had one of those coupons for $3.50 off a $10 purchase. Also, sorry for the horrible pictures. Not sure what's up with my camera. But I finally found the EOS lip balms in the Alice in Wonderland edition! I was so excited when I saw this and it was only $7.99, which I think is a pretty nice deal, especially since I had a coupon. Then I bought a China Glaze nail polish in the color Cast A Spell. This was on clearance for $4.99 and the color is so pretty. It's hard to see in the picture but it's this pretty dark, mossy green color with gold and dark green flecks of shimmer in it. I've never owned anything from China Glaze so I'm excited to see how their polishes are and if I like this one, I'll definitely pick up more!

The same day after Ulta I went to Target because I'm still having issues with finding the limited edition Maybelline Color Tattoos. Seriously, I've looked everywhere and can't find them at all. Please help! Anyways, with no luck (still) in finding the color tattoos I wandered around the other cosmetics, skincare and haircare products seeing what I could find. I've also never tried any Aussie products and these were 2 for $5 which I thought was a good deal so I picked up the 3 Minute Miracle Deeeeep Conditioner to possibly help with any extra dryness my hair has in the winter. I've also heard a bunch of good things about this so I have high hopes. I also picked up the Split-end Protector because I can tell now that I need a haircut, but I don't really feel like spending the money so I'm hoping this product will help to at least keep my split ends smooth and less noticeable.

Well that's everything! I don't think this was a very bad haul. I didn't spend a whole lot of money and I'm really trying to be good about that, so hopefully you won't be seeing too many more hauls from me for a while ;)

any good products you've bought recently?
